5.3 Card Counting - Hi/LoCounting card ability has increase of popularity since the story of a group of students that during their activity period won around $10 million - the MIT Team.
There are several counting card systems, Hi-lo system is one of the most used because is also one of the most simples. It was the one used that MIT Team used.
You don't have to be Einsteins to use it. Take a loot at table with the face values of the cards and the number to calculate accordingly to each card:

If the sum is very high, it means there are still in the deck a lot of figures and aces . This way, you have privilege information about the remaining cards in the deck.
By opposition, if the sum is very negative it means that almost all high cards have already been dealt. If the sum is zero it means the deck is evenly dealt. Remember, there are no miracle solutions, this is only gives you a edge.
Card counters follow a characteristic betting pattern. When the odds are with you, bet high; when the odds are against you, bet low.
