Total Dependent vs Composition
In this chapter we will try to simplify the differences between the total dependent (basic strategy) and composition dependent.
There are many books about this subject, but we will make an effort to explain this in a simple and clear way. Total dependent strategy is based only on the value of your hand, it does not depend on the number of hits in your hand.
Eg. If your hand is 14 and dealers face up card is a 10, basic strategy says that you should hit again until 17. That's the total dependent!
The composition dependent strategy, states that not only the value of your hand is important, but the number of cards of your hand is important to.
We will use the same example; you have a hand that equals 14, but it's a four card hand, then that changes everything! If your hand is the mentioned above, composition dependent strategy states that you should stand.
